A trip to Japan in mid 1980 was my introduction to the amazing range of Japanese papers, especially the beautiful Chiyogami range.
On returning to Sydney my husband and I decided to open a Specialty Paper shop - which we did is Newtown in 1993,
We are both creative people and wanted to present to our customers a colourful shop where these papers could not only be purchased but where ideas for their use could be shown.
Kevin developed DIY invitations where customers could truely create unique invitations to suite any theme or colour scheme with additions of these decorative papers. He still offers this assistance.
I was studying bookbinding so saw the use of these papers in that area.
We offered classes in cardmaking, fun booklets, gift wrapping and any other technique we could research and offer to stimulate the use of these papers.
23 years later we are still doing this. We believe there is a place for this small specialty shop where our customers can explore their creativity and create wonderful items. They can be confident that we have the 'hands on' experience to assist them.
For the DIY invitations we can help in the selection of colours and styles, advise on sizing, assist with printing, have the stationery cut to size and give full assemply instrudtions in the form of a demonstration.
In bookbinding and some paper crafts we occasionally have workshops but can advise on application such which glue or paste to use.
We love to hear from our customers about their uses of out papers and wish to feature them on our Blog
As many customers are out of Sydney we mail order all around Australia and there is a real person at the other end of the phone or email ready to assist and advise.
